Nearly three decades ago,

Captured by Kevin Carter, won a prize too.

Somehow this haunting photo,

Is imprinted on my mind like a tattoo.

 

Stats show, over 700 million still live in poverty,

Sadly, yearly 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted globally.

Directly or indirectly, small-time or big-time,

You and I have contributed to this crime.

 

Countries like Sierra, Africa, Sudan, Somalia,

And many million in India.

Will you sigh and resume your life again?

Or commit to strike a bargain?

 

If, there's one thing you can do to change,

Kindly stop dumping food into the garbage.

Remember! What's more on your plate,

Is just enough to alter, a person's survival fate.
