New Moorings
New Moorings
Regal rules written on boulders
Guard this dock for aeons
Stolid, unweathered in place,
They shape the island in joint
With roots of the bygone times.
Our ship is harboured on the shore
Waves rush towards it, unceasing
The tidal bore brings tarnish
Of unmoved wilful perpetuity
Engulfing the silver plates we built.
Like poison ivy, ruin spreads
Right now, survival is escape.
So we defy the course
And turn around our sails,
Tear off the frozen anchor
Follow the headway chase.
We won't let adherence be our fail
This morn, we halt our endurance
We abandon the shore and set to sail
In search of new moorings.
