Surroundings

I woke up afresh

To the rising sun,

With eyes still shut and hopes galore.

I muttered words of thanks

To the Universal power,

For I had been given

Much of the ground to cover.

Dawn is ever mesmerizing

With hues spewed,

So open I must my eyes still shut

And let it linger on the wonderous sprayed

Remnants of yesterday seek to linger in my thoughts,

Until I decide to brush it off as the past,

Today beckons with renewed colours,

Perhaps it is the newness that I sought.

Let me be lost in the beauty of my surroundings,

Until dusk departs to let in the dawn.

It is such a pleasure to rise each day,

Knowing very well that another unique day is on its way.
