The Fall from Heaven (30 Nov)
The Fall from Heaven (30 Nov)
The year is twenty-one hundred,
And things are better than expected,
The humans have left the earth far behind,
In the air are now their houses erected
The grounds were dry and hot,
And the waters rose in revolt,
To counter climate change once and for all,
They built fortresses in air, enormous and haul
Residences in the sky they built,
And they reside there together,
The wealthy even have vacation homes,
In space, rotating around the planet forever
But not all are happy,
There are a few dissidents,
They accuse the humans of running away,
To their planet they were indifferent
Only a fifth of the land remains,
The one covered with trees and forests,
The entirety of human architecture was erased,
Historical pieces submerged, now nothing of antiquity exists
To those people,
The leaders say,
Look to the future,
It is like Christmas in May
One such opponent,
Mary was her name,
Vowed to bring the cloud-houses down,
And its residents, from where they came
The technology to keep the communities floating,
Was centralised and monitored,
She found a way,
To deactivate it and cause a hazard
Gravity did its work,
Causing the building to go crashing earthbound,
In the nick of time, a scientist,
Stopped the damages from being utterly profound
Mary was apprehended and,
Proven guilty of her sins,
She was sentenced to spend her life,
Down on ground amongst trash bins
Alone she was left, in forests dark and cold,
In two nights, she wanted to go back home,
She shouted and called for someone to help,
No one heard her, not even a light was shone
Only another night she survived,
Hungry and alone,
The new apex predator,
Devoured her whole
