The Pollution of Earth

You may see the growling tiger,

Or you may see the exulting doe.

You may see the swimming fish,

Or you may see the cawing crow.

You may see the crouching panther,

Or you may see the hopping hare.

You may see the chattering monkeys,

Or you may see the roaring bear.

And you may watch them closely,

Watch them being killed.

You may see them being hunted.

See them stuffed and filled.

And you may turn away,

Feeling sorry that you gazed.

That trees are being felled,

That forests are being razed.

Alas, but too late to realize,

You search for a solution.

You look here and there

Forgetting that you are the pollution.

And when you are pointed out for it,

You declare that they are the yeasts.

And you do not, for a moment,

Think about those innocent beasts.

And then you purchase a pet,

A cute little cat.

And when it struggles,

You feed and make it fat.

The cat sheds tears,

The end of its time nears.

It had grown billow,

Until it was nothing but a pillow.

And then you buy another kitten,

And for the first don’t give nurse.

And with its last breath,

The ancient cat mutters a curse.

And at the end, at last,

You celebrate your life.

Not knowing its cost,

Oh! The times you caused strife.
