Womanhood

Am I the only one to get this pain.
Am I the only one to get this pain.
Right from the cradle where I was lain,
Why did it not sound like "wow, it’s a girl" but " oh, it’s a girl".
I play, I jump, I laugh I get my hair straighten or get a curl.
Right from the start of my womanhood I had to go through pain.
Little drops of blood which teach every girl to be strong, 
These scarlet drops dictating that I act like a lady,

I can’t go overboard and lose myself without my life going all wrong.
Here I am in the delivery room facing gruesome pain again, 
Only to give this world another of my kind.
I want her to explore this world, to be bold and head strong.
A warrior like her would be hard to find.
