A Note Was Discovered

A Note Was Discovered

People say that marriages are made in heaven and pairs are decided by god. Perhaps, it is true otherwise, how can two people get into a relationship despite having different personalities and tastes in life.

We (me and my husband), both are poles apart in every angle of our life, from lifestyle to even food preference. For instance, he loves to eat sweet dishes and I am not really a fan of sweet delicacies. I am good at giving surprises and loves to receive also and he can’t keep surprises even for more than a minute. I expressed my feelings freely and he is pathetic when it comes to expression (don’t judge me now, you will get the final answer towards the end of this blog).

One day, fed up with his flat, emotionally constipated look on his face, I decided to write paper chits and drop them into a box during that entire year. I tried convincing my husband to write on those chits the moments he loved to be with me or the moments he felt proud of me with his name on it. In this way, it will be easy to know which cheat belongs to whom and which is mine. So, we both mutually agreed to open the box on the new year eve.

I kept writing all those moments and locked it in the box and praised myself thinking of what a good idea I had masterminded to know the feelings of what he thinks about me through writing, though not verbally.

Finally, we are in that day, when we have to open that box of hidden feelings. I was really excited to discover what’s inside. But wait!! What’s this?? He is enjoying reading my chits and where are mine?? I can’t believe it. I mean, it's ridiculous. He didn’t write even a single chit for me. I doubt myself of not having any good qualities.

I looked into his eyes cluelessly and he murmured to himself,” I told you not to open this year, let's move it to next year. But you insisted.” He calmly got down from bed and said,” thank you. I enjoyed reading.” And left that room.

As a symbol of protest, I stopped talking with him for the next 3 days. Next week, when I was cleaning his wardrobe, a note was discovered by me under one of his shirts which says:

In my whole life, I thought that sweet is the best thing to eat and you know better than me how I love savouring sweet dishes which include dishes like: chhena poda, rasgulla, chamcham, gulab jamun, peda etc. You are sweeter than them. (perhaps, written under the pressure of my silent treatment).

Oh God! This note literally looks like a big list of sweet dish names which looks like he was carried away by his thought that he almost forgot he was about to write something for me. Well, something happened, better than nothing. But I still remember the days he held my hand to give them a good answer, who tried to put me down and stood by me like a pillar of support every time I was about to crash. This makes me realise one thing that love is shown in your deeds, not in your words. Do you think so…….?
