April - The Season Blooms

April - The Season Blooms

April is the month of joy, as children celebrate the end of exams and begin their long summer vacation, the longest vacation of the year. The scorching heat forces most people to stay indoors during the daytime, except for those who are at work. Not many people venture out in the morning, leading to government orders for morning schools and offices. A newer concept in schools is the reminder bells for drinking water, emphasizing the importance of staying hydrated in the heat. Despite the intense heat, life goes on smoothly.

Evenings in April are pleasant, and bustling with activity. People visit parks with their children, while others stroll along pathways and roads. Evening rides along the riverside or towards the zero point of the Hirakud Dam, where the Debrigarh Sanctuary begins, are popular activities in places like Sambalpur and Burla in Odisha. As someone from this area of Western Odisha, I can attest to the charm of these places. There is much more to explore across this part of the state.

While April is often seen as a month of joy and happiness due to vacations, it also hosts marriages, providing opportunities for celebrations and merrymaking. For some, vacations mean visiting and exploring new places, for others, it may involve visiting family, and relatives, or having get-togethers with friends. The experience varies for different people.

Spring brings with it the beauty of blooming flowers, adding to the charm of nature. However, the rising atmospheric temperature requires special care for plants and trees to stay fresh and continue blooming with seasonal flowers.

In addition to various national and international celebrations, April begins with April Fools' Day on the 1st and ends with Honesty Day on the 30th.
