International Women's day- an ostentious day indeed

International Women's day- an ostentious day indeed

8th March is to be celebrated as international women's day. This day reflects the eminence of women and showcases their abilities to excel in every field of work that a man can do. But the thing is, in the world of social media and the era of ostentation, this women's day has really become overhyped. Well, this statement might shock you but that's what the truth is!!

Now, let me explain what made me think like such in the first place. It was the day before yesterday when the women's day was fallen. On the 10th of March, I had TCS national qualifier test. And my exam was close by on 8th March. So I was busy preparing for the exam itself. While taking a break during my study, I scrolled down the newsfeed of social media and it was just flooded with posts dedicating to women's day itself. Well, many of my friends shared the same post on the behalf of this day that mentioned, " I thank those women who came to my life as a friend, sister, mother, aunt and so on. Happy women's day !!". Well, if the women whom I am really thankful to have in my life is my mother and my sister. My sister and I had many conflicts over the years due to which I resented her and didn't like to talk to her. Apparently, I was holding grudges because of past issues that occurred in my childhood. But as I grow up I realized she cares for me deeply no matter how much I resented her. I may not be expressive but I can assure you that, now I surreptitiously care for her and her needs. So basically, I am thankful to have these two women in my life. If I will be honest, the rest of the women whom I have come across are to be sapiosexual, two-faced and untrusted. I am not saying all of them; most of them actually.

See, it's not that I am being a misogynist. What I mentioned above is because of all the true incidents and circumstances that happened in my life. Well, while starting to read this story of mine, an individual would detest me for that last line mentioned in the second paragraph. Well, this is what our society is!! Our society finds it easy to slander men and to mollycoddle women even if it's their fault. Many at times, men are convicted for false cases and due to which their lives are been destroyed. It because in eyes of our society, a woman is always innocent and a man is to be guilty always. This fake feminism can cause a dystopia where innocent men lives are to be endangered. We shouldn't consider priority between the two opposite genders rather we should hear the story from both sides and then decide who is the culprit. It's really high time to bring on the change in the system.

Another thing I have observed during these women's day that many female celebrities flaunted on their social media account regarding the achievements of women and even many brand companies were doing the same. Many celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor, Gal Gadot and so on flooded on their Instagram posts and stories with women and their achievements across the globe. Well, it seems all these women were flaunting their gender type and so it made me to feel those posts to be monotonous. Hence, on a lucid account, we can say that women's day is to be overhyped. Contradict to women's day, men's day is not as popular as women's day. It doesn't even match the 50% popularity of women's day: it is hilariously true! See, it's not that men don't have any achievements but they usually don't brag themselves and showcase those achievements on social media. Even they don't flaunt on social media during International men's day. Actually, all could see women struggle and their achievements but no one could see the struggle that a man does and the burden that he faces in this patriarchal society. Everyone just adores women on women's day and even men also pamper women on this day by posting status and gives captions like, " all women are beautiful"," I am thankful to each and every woman in my life", " every woman is an angel in flesh", "every woman are wonderful" and so on - only just to get a reply from their female friends like, " aww.. So sweet!!", "thank you so much, dear!!" and even just to get a love emoji from them, they write long captions.

I am not exaggerating!! I have actually been there. Yes, I used to share posts on my status and write long captions on women's day. But when maturity hammered me on my head, I realized these kinds of stuff are becoming overhyped and then a day came when I wasn't thankful to have any other women in my life. So I just stopped posting on women's day because if I would post, then it would mark hypocrisy.

See, the point is: not only women are wonderful, but men are also wonderful. Men also possess the same feelings as women. And not only women are adorable, men are adorable too. If you just remove gender stereotyping, then you will find men can also be charismatic like women. The only thing is we need to change our perception. According to my perception, if men and women are to be equal then there should be no such thing called ' women empowerment rather we should there should be 'human empowerment'. In other words, we need to promote egalitarianism so that all the individuals would come forward and work in unison as a result this world would be a far better place one could ever imagine!!
