"Bishops Pin"

Seeing only one doorway out the adrenaline-filled bounty-hunter moves forward. The next room contains the same pattern on the floor. But the room is different. Where he entered there is plenty of lighting but as each row gets further it gets darker. Complete darkness is near the back. The other difference is a huge stone slab of granite. It is about six feet in height and three feet wide. Romeelus un-intimidated studies past the block. There is a "whoosh-ing" sound and a crossbow bolt imbeds itself into his shoulder, biting through his armour. Another noise and reflexively he ducks. A blur goes over his head and into the wall.

"I'm an easy target in this light," he notices. Before any more bolts can be fired he stands behind the slab. Taking a chance he takes a step to the right. With deadly aim and speed, a bolt hits his other shoulder. "ARRGH" he screams at frustration more than pain. Anger boils inside him. Feeling like a coward he again ducks behind the safety of the slab. He knows they are advancing every time he does so. "Think Romeelus! Think!" he commands himself. "I'm pinned here pretty good; so I must be facing bishops. Let's take a look at the situation." He jumps up quickly and stares past the slab. A look of realization comes across his face. The darkness is spreading towards him. The web of the pin is starting to come towards me. I won't know where they are and they will be able to pick me off." He is wondering if their boss Felkinor is actually commanding them to move along diagonals. "If that's the case then I have a chance." Letting an eerie calm wash over him he formulates his idea. Taking out his magical axe he removes the guard. A green fluorescent light emanates from his axe. "OK trusted axe, I'm relying on you!" As the darkness starts to creep closer Romeelus steps to the left. "WHOOSH" he puts the shield up to deflect the shot. Noting the projectile's travel he follows the tiles on the floor.

"I got you now WHITE BISHOP!" Ducking behind the stone he counts to three. The pain in his shoulders throbs and makes its presence known. He ignores the pain. As the darkness envelops him he throws his axe on the pattern hoping the bishop is still there.

"ARRRGGGHHH!" he smiles with satisfaction. The axe's aim was true. He can see the fluorescent glow of the axe as it falls to the floor; indicating death. The axe unburies itself and like a boomerang flies back to Romeelus. Complete darkness has arrived. Feeling the block to his right Romeelus he sheathes his axe removing the light. He then feels the block and follows it so he is positioned in front of it. "With darkness totally present the black bishop probably has free reign of his movement. Now to wait for his mistake." Patience is his strongest virtue, but the bishop is inept at sneaking and soon makes his presence known. It is a small scuffle of the foot on tile, but it is enough for the experienced bounty-hunter. He locates the sound. Very quietly he climbs the stone. Taking out his bola, or tripping weapon, he plans his attack. He removes his axe covering and throws the axe quickly. The glow from the axe shows the location of the bishop. Romeelus throws his bola before the man has time to move. The bola hits the bishop and he goes down. The axe returns to Romeelus. He jumps down and makes it to the fallen soldier with cheetah-like speed. He splits his head open with the axe. The next few minutes were spent ripping out the bolts and stopping the blood. Using his axe for the light he quickly exited the room. "Now for the KNIGHTS!" he prepares himself for what could only be a tough battle
