Boom! The firecrackers burst under the hot sun as Riya, a sweet nineteen-year-old, celebrated Diwali with her mother. She wished that her father Rajesh could be there to enjoy with them. Her thoughts cleared up quickly when her mother asked her to help create a rangoli. They were designing a magnificent alpana of Ram, Lakshman, and Sita outside their home. This day of joy gave a boost to the Indian soldiers to work harder and win the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. Riya’s father also was a soldier fighting in the war. Rajesh fought for his family and dedicated his life to saving the country.

Later that day, Rajesh was resting at the temporary campsite Tongi. The shining sun was beating and blood was flowing like the river. Guns were shooting as bombs were exploding followed by faint sobs. When the soldiers were thirsty, they drank the boiling water that burned their throats or the cold water that cooled them down. The energy they receive gives them an urge to fight the Pakistanis harder. They were ready to help East Pakistan become a separate country.

At last, Rajesh entered the battlefield and destroyed about 2 million of the opposing army with the help of his unit. The clever Pakistani leader Khan Niazi thought of a brilliant plan to shoot Rajesh out of the emergency tent when he got near. As expected, Rajesh did come near to kill more soldiers. The leader aimed for the heart but got the stomach.

Unfortunately for Niazi, Rajesh survived and gradually returned to the campsite. He was sent by a large ambulance helicopter to the nearest hospital. The Ghoshal family was called immediately. The doctor received the family’s consent for serious surgery. The doctor proceeded with the operation. It was two hours of intense pressure on the surgeons. When the doctor came out, Riya sprinted up to him and inquired about her father. Her life tore into pieces when she learned that her father did not make it. Her world was completely lost. Riya and her mother mourned for hours and consoled each other. They were doing great financially and physically. Sadly, their heart was breaking down. At that moment they regretted their decision to allow Rajesh to fight in the India-Pakistan war situated in Dhaka.
