When Will I feel Safe

So when will I feel completely safe? How will that historic moment look like when we 'women' will feel safe? Will it be when majority of parents will consider apartment also as an option when their darling daughters are moving to a new city and hostel will not remain as the only choice for accommodation as it's "safer"? Or when 'father's name' wouldn't be an indispensable column while filling the official forms? Or While planning a solo trip, the only thing I will be bothered about will be the budget and not plenty of "what-ifs"? Or when the requirement for going to a remote area will either be driving or riding skills and not company of "few trustworthy men"? Or when I would want my male friends to accompany me on a tour because I want them there and not because I want an escort cum friend ? Or when wearing a bikini while swimming would be as normal for us as wearing a trunk is for men? Or when I will decide to get married because I want to and not because it's unsafe to be a single women in the long run because they are on always on the radar of prying eyes ? Or when keeping Chilli power or pepper spray in my laptop bag would seem absurd rather than a brilliant idea? I know that the world will never be bereft of problems but it can definitely get rid of gender-specific problems.

 Probably that magical moment will be when discussions would revolve around "human-safety" and not merely women safety. I am a happy pessimist, so I am not too hopeful about a utopian world when everything will be perfect, but I do hope for the world where the only difference that would exist will be what Rizwan Khan's mother had explained to him in My Name is Khan-" Is duniya mein sirf do kism ke insaan hai ... achche insaan joh achcha kaam karte hai aur bure joh bura"
