The One

I remember that I was 6 when I first heard of the concept of "The One". It was in a theater. The lights were dingy, the room was stuffy, and the quality was bad. It was a rerun of an old film; the name of which escapes my memory now. .I don't remember any of the lines from the movie, or who acted in it.

I remember just one scene. The hero kneels in front of his lover, and pulls out a box. He opens the box and, to the background gasping of the audience (which I didn't understand back then), he said, "Will you marry me?"

Today, exactly 20 years later, I kneel before you, and pull out a box. Opening the box, to the background of your gasp, I say, "Will you marry me?"
