A Candle, To His Lover...

A Candle, To His Lover...

You can laugh in my light,

You can love in my warmth,

You know that I can brighten your entire world;

Yet oh how, Oh how can you,

Ignore it melting my frame?

How can you see, yet not -

- Feel my form dripping away.

You make me feel as though I'm the centre of your world;

Yet your world lies in the gravity of Helios.

How could you dance around this flicker,

even though the essence of our gravity,

shames the behemoth that bends light in the eternal abyss?

The laws of existence left me dumbstruck.

Even if the Eternal Hand leaves me unanswered;

I'd rather follow the path of Him who was crucified,

To burn until the smoke from the pyre lifts.

I'd flicker out in peace knowing that

Till the end my innocence remained;

Bright yet not blinding;

Warm yet not burning;

All to see your smile,

Unblemished, undimmed,

To shine through eternity.

The candle tells his lover that she can laugh and love in his light. He knows that his little light is enough to brighten her life. He is asking the girl how could she ignore his pain. He is saying that he is draining his physical and mental resources for her but she is not realising it. She makes him feel as though he is her life's centre. But he knows that she belongs to the Sun (someone else). He is asking how she could ever revolve around his flicker (she, a planet, could never revolve around his small fire.) But the feelings they have for each other are so strong, it's like the crushing gravity of a black hole (the behemoth). The laws of the world are confused at this. How could something as small as this candle and girl have such great feelings (gravity) and even with such great intensity? And even when such intensity exists, the planet fails to revolve around the candle.

The eternal hand (God).

Even if it seems like God cannot answer the candle's dilemma, he would still move forward amidst his doubt, because he wants to follow the path of Christ who gave his life for many without expecting anything in return. He would burn until there is nothing but smoke remaining, (smoke from the pyre refers to the boys' {candle} funeral pyre).

He would die in peace knowing that till the end, his love was pure, only intending to make her life filled with happiness.

He never meant for his love to hurt her in any manner. All he wanted was for her to be happy all the days of her life.
