An Angel's Hymn
An Angel's Hymn
In the solitude of my chamber, I lie
My physique enervated, my soul fortified high
For years, I served with valor and passion
Yet, alas! The time has come, and my fate is sealed.
My hands have held the palms of those,
Who endured excruciating pain and interminable throes
I've wiped the tears of countless eyes,
And witnessed as many ascend to the skies
But lo! The virus arrived ravaging lives
None stood bold to seize its reins
I witnessed the terror in people's eyes
And knew it was time to do my valiant part
So, with a smile and unwavering heart,
I embarked on with indomitable might
Days and nights, I stood a lit cadle
battling the pandemic with a heart divine.
But now, I lay here, enfeebled and frail,
The virus triumphed, and my vigor did pale
My last breaths fast approaching,
And as I depart with a passionate soul.
Never shall I leave in despair or fear
For I have received my honour.
Don't shed a tear, my dears!
Remember me with a countenance that cheers.
For I am but a nurse, chosen to serve
And I with pride, take my last breath
For I've left behind a legacy that you will be proud of.
And in my memories, I'll forever be your guide.
