An Ode
An Ode
Back in those days: days that I remember,
When the sun seemed brighter than ever ,
Yet, out of reach to perk up my whole sky,
I dwelled under the shield of a half lit sky.
Along the way, I caught some rays, amiss,
I picked up the pace to chase brightness.
As I stumbled upon doorways half open,
I was almost there, but not quite, then .
I got myself up and straightened my knees,
Never waited as much to straighten my mind.
I set out and shaped some frames, half done,
That I pushed ahead with a mind, half made.
As I strived and failed to steady my stack,
The Sun rose and covered me in sparkles.
Feet stuck, I sighed and let go of my heap,
To write down an ode to a life half lived.
