They smiled brighter, with glimmering eyes

Eager to be at mass, in the morning fateful

Many a soul hurried to the church

Hoping to return, a celebration at hand

Young and old gathered in prayer

The resurrection was their hope

Yet it was death that awaited

A deafening blast, all that was

Fallen while at prayer, martyrs of faith

On God's holy altar, Was it fair oh lord?

To faith I hold on, may you be the judge

For this act of cowardice and disgrace
