My Secret Garden

My Secret Garden

There’s a secret garden I like to go,

It’s the place I love and adore,

Below my house and beneath the road,

It lies open untamed and wild.

The birds fly free and in ecstasy,

Screeching and twittering away in the sunshine,

Squirrels scampering around finding their bread,

Fantails and tailor birds tweeting and foraging around.

The cuckoo calls out loud, though harsh and crackling,

The crow caws out as it rests with his mate,

Sparrows fighting and scampering in the mud,

The magpie robin singing sweetly aloud.

The berries now ripe and juicy,

The birds and squirrels feasting in ecstasy,

Butterflies circling around the flowers with the breeze,

Sucking sweet nectar and basking in the sun,

With varieties of them galore,

It’s a sight to behold!!

Flowers in bloom,

Oh! So many,

Red, yellow and purple and hues too many,

Green fresh leaves so soothing and calm,

Adding to the freshness and the charm.

Children running around ,

In gay abandon,

Carefree and joyful,

Living in the moment!

Sitting on the grass,

It’s a great place for me to charge.

Sunlight through the trees,

Falling right on the grass,

The Frangipani tree,

With beautiful white blossoms,

Adding to the charm.

With its sweet scent lingering in the air,

Oh! It’s a perfect place to stay and to be.

I have this secret garden so very alive always,

To dream of this when my day is disarranged,

I feel this secret garden with my eyes so closed,

And I am strengthened to pass through my chores.
