One Last Dance

One Last Dance

Caught in the labyrinth of hopelessness,

Hoping against hope,

Gambling against fate,

Those blazing rings of fire,

Had dwindled her.

Her towering defiance.

Her spotless mind.

Her dauntless spirit.

Gliding swiftly across that stage,

Twirling and twisting her hands,

Displaying oodles of panache,

Stepping delicately,

To each step.

To every tune.

Kate was on a roll.

Placing herself high,

High above the allure of such flamboyance,

The rumors of her liaisons,

Her everlasting companion.

Drizzling all day,

The ethereal tune kept ringing in her ears,

"We're always proving who

Always reaching,

For that rising star,

To guide me far,

And shine me home,

Out here on my own"

Creeping in from the darkest of corners,

Sunshine pervaded all through,

Bringing in radiance.

Like a blooming daffodil.

Like a quenched nomad.

All for nothing but a farce.

Putting up her signature strokes together,

Memories kept coming back,

Plaging her.

Of constant fear.

Of prolonged struggle.

Of an inevitable turmoil.

Allaying all her fears,

She wanted to fly,

Arms spread wide,

Defeating and defying barriers,

With a triumphant smile.

Dreaming of impossibilities,

Reveries of lullabies,

Victory was at her doorstep,

Rejoicing in glory,

Calling out her name.

To dance.

To celebrate.

To indulge.

Yet, there she was.

Revering her passion,

Dreaming her false pallid dream,

Chasing the eternal sleep,

Her final call,

To hibernate,

In permanence.

A last chance,

For,

One Last Dance.
