SOUL OF POETRY

Bind me not in the counts of syllables, words or lines,

For I am free, beyond the structure of your verses and rhymes

I am the free spirit, 

Unbound by odes, ballads or elegies

Quatrains, couplets, villanelles

All fail to capture, the essence of my energies

My voice echoes clearly 

In a mind pure and free

Like the bird of truth spreading its wings, 

To glide across the sky's sea

Hold me not in haikus, tankas,

sonnets or prose

I flow in free abandon

Taking my own course

I am the uncaptured fragrance of flowers in full bloom

Shining in the mind's sky, like the full moon

Like a flowing river, untethered and free 

I'm the song of your heart, the soul of poetry.
