A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind,

A companion, a motivator, a mentor,

A guide, a friend, a wellwisher,

Changing lives with just the mix

Of chalk and challenges,

Pretending to be happy, having the energy,

Hustle and bustle throughout the day,

Shouting in classes, working long hours,

Sacrificing personal life for the students,

Being a testimony to passion and dedication,

Oh how hard it is, preparing for the classes

In advance, taking notes, invoking interest

In the kids, explaining the concepts, 

Clearing the doubts, giving homework,

Announcing tests, revising the syllabus,

Evaluating the tests, analyzing their performance,

Going to the extra mile to help the kids,

A teacher smiles at it with ease.

Oh how hard it is, to be a Guru,

To fulfill the expectations of the kids,

Their parents, society, and family, 

To bear with criticism and hate,

To cope with peer pressure,

Being underpaid, undervalued,

A teacher smiles at it with ease,

Yet at the end of the day,

The smile of a student, the job satisfaction,

A teacher flies high and high and high.
