She decided to stick to as much as the truth “I opposed this match earlier because they were seeking a big dowry but when my parents repeatedly insisted I reconciled. Now I’m wary of approaching them about this. They could think I’m using this chance to oppose the match again but in truth I’m really not comfortable defecating outdoors.” 

She maintained perfect eye contact and earnest look to make things believable. She just hoped she could turn the tide in her favour.

He looked at her thoughtfully for a minute “I’ll approach your parents first and then we’ll talk to the village elders. I know it is a very sensitive matter. Since open defecation is still prevalent here I’m really not sure how much our claim could sway your folks.” 

Just then she handed over some notes and some newspaper clippings “I hope this research helps”. 

He looked through and was beyond impressed “I see you’re really very serious about this. Ok. I’ll support you and use these to try and convince everyone. Let’s see.”
