One Was A Liar
One Was A Liar
Two boys drove merrily on the deserted highway, crack of dawn, rejoicing employment in a big firm. ‘Balderdashhh!!’ shrieked one, pushing the gear. ‘No broken bones till we’re rich,’ the other mocked. ‘Enjoy, will you?'.
Abruptly, a red Toyota dashed from the left lane, striking into their tiny car that toppled over and slithered with clatter. The boys lay motionless with glass penetrating into their skin unpityingly.
The ambiance smelled of relaxing lavender of a shattered car-freshener bottle.
‘Sir, one’s alive, and nothing in the car but two job applications.’
‘Job applications?’
‘Yes, sir, one is approved, and the other declined.’
