(Prologue of the book)

The highway was free of traffic. Drystan and Jonas drove their car in a merry. Both their job applications had just been approved.

‘Balderdashhh!! Bless our success!’, shrieked Jonas as he pushed the car’s gear.

‘Ayo Jonas cut the speed down. Let's be good obedient, can't afford broken bones’, Drystan warned, as he turned the radio on.

Jonas giggled. 'The highway is clear; no one drives at six in the morning! Enjoy the air, and the songs put up on the radio, won't you?'. Drystan beamed. 'But behold! The junction must be somewhere right where.'

A round of their chuckling was followed by a nick of time, that transformed their life entirely.

Abruptly, a red Toyota dashed from the left lane, crashing over their tiny car, that toppled over several times and slid down with harsh noise, due to friction.

As the car glass shattered with sharp noises, the famous song that was being played on the car radio stopped suddenly. The boys lay motionless and numb, the crushed pieces of glass piercing into their skin, without any mercy.

Blood oozed out.

Drystan, slowly, caught a grip on Jonas's trembling hand.

'I'm scared, Jonas', he whispered frightfully, with a quivering voice.

'I'm sorry’, he whimpered, like a dying animal. They both were sobbing, and breathing heavily.

Misty grey clouds had spread across the sky, and blocked the sun's rays, when suddenly, heavy rain started pouring down, the pure rainwater dissolving with the blood. Cold winds blew forcefully, and the ambience smelled of relaxing lavender, the fragrance from the broken bottle of car freshener.

The red Toyota that had attacked them, too had crumbled up, after crashing the traffic light pole, and slithered into the trees, tearing apart a few barks.

While Jonas stayed immobile with harshly broken bones, and Drystan went breathless after being strangled by the car seat.

Drystan lamented for some more minutes of regret until Mizpah finally lifted him in its tender shoulders, and carried him carefully.
