Sartorial Obsession

It is no exaggeration when I say that an Indian woman's insatiable need for clothes bears no logical relation to the large wardrobe and several suitcases full of seldom-worn clothes in perfectly good condition already in her possession.

Let me warn you that it would be foolish and futile of men even to attempt to understand and counter female logic pertaining to her clothes.

Buying one article of clothing in order to fulfill or match another article of clothing is a gambit passed on from mother to daughter, generation after generation !

It is generally of little consequence to women whether their clothes indicate good taste in colour or pattern, or even whether they fit appropriately and comfortably without attracting the attention of passers-by. I have seen women wearing shocking pink and red silk saris in bright sunlight. They literally ruined my day and mood.

The paramount consideration for any modern woman while buying clothes is that the clothes should be of this year's style, or better still this month's style or in other words trendy. 

When asked to wear an out-of-fashion dress because it is nice looking and has been worn only few times before, my wife has been heard to say : "It seems you are mad and out of this world" !

Sane and Pristine Advice : The best way, of course, is to give in and buy such clothing as your wife demands. Just think how happy this will make not only your wife but also the local shopkeepers and clothes merchants. If more and more husbands similarly give in, it might even stimulate the flagging economy and reduce the national debt, even as your own debt increases.

Final word and Final assault :  I once suggested to my "mild" wife that she could buy as many clothes as possible by selling some of her seldom-used jewellery. She EXPLODED ☆☆☆☆

Till date I am experiencing the aftershocks !
