The Burnt Out Sun

From the distance came the sound of a siren. I don't know whether anyone else heard it or not, but I heard it is not just heard the sound, recognizes it too. It was the ambulance siren and its call was for me. That is why I came out. Excuse or argument would serve no purpose. The matter had been settled at the top: I was sick and needed treatment.

Within a few moments, it sidled up to me and stopped. What I was waiting for did not happen, two men got out, instead. They did not speak to me at all, but l read their message very well from their faces. That's the burning sun in their life...
