The Flatterers

    Most of the courtiers of Akbar were always engaged in the flattery of the Emperor. 

    One day, while showing their loyalty to the Emperor, two of the courtiers said, "Your Majesty, we can do anything and can bring anything for you. "

    That day, Akbar was in a mood to shut the mouth of those flatterers. He said, " Well, you can do anything for me. Right! Then one of you brings fire wrapped in papers and another one will bring me air in a piece of paper. 

    The courtiers were trapped in their own net, weaved out of flattery. They were repentant. However, what could they do now? 

    The courtiers went to Birbal and request his help. 

    Birbal heard them carefully, thought for a while, and said, " One of you make a fan of paper. The other one makes a lantern of thick paper. With this, you visit the Emperor. 

   Courtiers thanked Birbal and went away. On the next day, they appeared in the court with a paper lantern and paper fan. They presented these to the Emperor. 

    Emperor was shocked to see the things. And he asks that who gave you this idea? Birbal replied courtier. And Emperor said that Birbal you are so genius and I am proud of you.
