Where Did I Go Wrong?

Walking alone in the cold winter evening, I heard my name being called from behind. Under the lone street light stood a figure - blurry, hazy. My tears blinded me as it ran down my cheeks giving them a chilly sensation. I felt a sting of pain in my chest as my visions became clear. There he stood - an important part of my life. The love of my life. 

"Why are you here? " tears rolled down shaking my voice as I screamed with pain and anger "You left me when I needed you the most! " My shrills pierced the deafening silence. He swept past me and whispered " Because I promised to stay by your side forever. No matter if am alive or dead."

I dropped to my knees, wailing, all alone, in the cold winter evening, near the cemetery, after visiting my lover's grave.
