Winning back love

Imagine how we feel if an aircraft hits turbulence and drops about two hundred feet in just a matter of a few seconds..... it felt multifold to Sasha when her husband Rohit broke the news that he got fired from his company ! She felt a sudden discomfort in her chest and there was an up- rush in the stomach which compelled her to vomit later on that day.

She recollected ten years back when Rahul visited her for marriage prospect, he just asked

" Would you like to pursue a career or stay comfortably at home?"

to which she humbly replied,

" I would like to continue my career as an academician."

"Fine, then enjoy glancing half of the sky and let me enjoy the other half standing back to back. Then our two pairs of eyes can have a complete view of the sky from end to end "...

Rohit agreed. Sasha's face was gleaming with admiration and confidence.

Rohit, a decent looking design architect hailing from a middle class background working in a prestigious multinational company finally won the heart of Sasha.Beautiful Sasha, that time a lecturer by profession and a writer by passion could not ask for more. Marriage was a dream come true moment for both. Both complimented each other in many ways.

A year passed with mutual understanding and respect. By then both came to know each other's strengths and weaknesses..Sasha saw a changed Rohit.

Respect soon turned out into regret. When two intellectual minds collide with each other, fights and arguments are bound to happen. Had one been illiterate and a fool then things would have turned the other way around.... Both started feeling repulsion, provocation and regression.They involved parents into the matter.

Parents suggested to have a baby to avoid such issues and focus on family. But baby can never be a solution when the mind itself is polluted.

Sasha remembered, evening times used to be the much awaited time for constructive discussions on career, politics, news, love, romantic conversations or just silly prattles with hot tea cups in their hands.

There were constant quibbles on cleanliness, food, laundry, grocery and kid's requirements now. Arguments over career, arguments over time and availability ... Rohit constantly came late from office. On asking he would frown and complain,

"Why don't you take a break?

Why these adult guys pestering you with their nonsense doubts and questions outside their college time, can't they hold their desire to speak to you in person? And shame on you taking interest in replying to them.

How about sitting at home?"

How unprofessional !! He was sounding so imbecile and illiterate.... These questions shattered Sasha from inside.She never questions on his character when Rohit talks to his female colleagues..A wife can't regrow her husband with lessons of values for man refuses to learn at a certain point. She had some ambition in life. Her parents always had high expectations from her and never hesitated to support her. She craved for her maiden life.

Rohit criticized her meager payment as he got at least ten times more than his wife. He refused to accept that private colleges run on limited funds. They are not MNCs.It's just the starting of her career and she aimed high for Universities.

Rohit's suppressed desire to be loved and respected by his wife started to show up in everyday life. The more he craved the more he looked like a cranky monkey or like an immature child. She wondered whether all men project to be something else before marriage and turn out to be the exact opposite afterwards?

Dealing with constant emotional pressure, Sasha chose to sacrifice her dreams. To prevent furter issues she restrained her career aspirations and devoted her whole time on looking after her family.The kid grew to be quite independent in no time. She had plenty of free time.

For winning her love,respect and job back she proposed to underplay. Finally Rohit agreed on her joining some schools.

She was just rediscovering herself as a school teacher, the whole sky broke on her head.

Rohit became a victim of recession during the Corona pandemic. Not only he lost his job but his confidence, his calibre, his hopes and dreams and many more. His family tried to support him morally at that stage but no body practically and financially helped him that much.The stange thing about marriage is, married couple fight over artificial problems on a daily basis but inversely behave when it comes to real life problem. It was time for Sasha to pitch in.

In darkest of times one can not ignite the lamp of faith, Only a well illuminated one can fire the lamp put off by circumstances.

"Nevermind, almost all of my friends and acquaintances are facing the similar problems. It's better to take your time, relax and prepare for a better position. You should go for some training and certification programs in this break.It's a great opportunity. You were stressed up all this while. Now leave it to me.At least we have our own house.For daily needs I am there. Don't worry!"

Sasha reassured Rohit while he was preparing paratha and Chutney for her lunch box.

"You should take lunch on time and take care of yourself as you are the only earning member of our family now. "

These words were too much for Sasha to handle. When the hobby becomes the only source of income you pour your heart and soul into it. She took her job very seriously.She was doing pretty well. But after dispersal of students she cried her heart out.

How a woman is supposed to feel when the entire burden of the family will be rested on her tender shoulders????

She felt like giving up. But this is called testing time. She can't afford to cry. She went back home with a parcel.

"Let's have a some samosa and ice cream party to celebrate my pay day. "

Sasha retorted with a bright smile on her face but failed miserably to bring the smile back.

Night after night Rohit couldn't sleep. He regretted how he used to insult Sasha.....In private and public both. Blaming Sasha for her incompetence in handling chores was his most favourite manipulation. But as he stayed at home he learnt how difficult it is to maintain a home and meet the needs. He suffered insomnia and sobbed in the bed. Sasha allowed Rohit to rest his head on her lap and softly brushed his hair with her fingers.

Two years passed. Sasha's struggle became easy as she was taking online classes and could offer a help whenever she was free. God was not so harsh on both.

After a gap of two whole years, Rohit got an offer to join in a reputed company and got an on site project. He relocated abroad with his family. Things started changing positively after that.

Pandemic took lives, peace, jobs and many more. But there was a sunny side to it. Both Sasha and Rohit got their lost hopes, trust and confidence back.Like gold leaves all the impurities while being exposed to fire, marriage got redefined with conjugal love, support and admiration for each other after a brief scuffle.

Rohit took Sasha to Switzerland. Sasha was enjoying the mesmerizing pastoral beauty.

"The whole sky is within your purview my dear and let me take the pleasure of watching your pretty pair of eyes ."

Rohit whispered into his wife's ears.

Sasha's face beamed with a sense of victory and rapture after winning her love back.
