A Little Seed~ Jyotsna Gaur
A Little Seed~ Jyotsna Gaur
Long, long ago
Once upon a time,
Just like that
On the ground, I was lying,
Covered with sand and peacefully sleeping under few pebbles all piled.
“Uh, Oh!”, suddenly I felt a jerk.......as I got kicked.
“Oh my God! Such an adorable and cute little guy,
So calm and gentle, oh Me, A Seed ..... how could I be kicked?!!!!!
“Who could it be?”
I wanted to open up my eyes and see ‘The so cruel being’,
But to all my surprise, I could neither open my eyes nor move my limbs.
It was then that I discovered my state
Of being dehydrated, inactive and dormant.
I tell you “Why?”
Because my germ tube had not yet activated my embryo......
And all this while, when I was trying, trying and trying.....
I felt a gentle touch, softly picking me up,
Turning me left and right
As well as tossing me up in the air, Ah, a little high.
And Ha, Ha, Ha, Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho......got a tickling where my then flat belly was.
I felt the vibes of innocent giggles and shrieks of joy and just said to myself,
“Oh, please someone stop it and tell me, who this funny, little devil was.”
As I was wondering about this all....
The soft, cool breeze was sensed by Me....A Seed so small.
And when came to a halt, the soft speedy calm breeze,
Despite all my trying, I could still, neither open my eyes nor move my limbs,
But only sense and feel that everything again, had come to a freeze.
All this while....... when I was thinking, thinking and thinking.......
I felt my familiar motherly touch of the soft and moist – The Garden Soil.
The embryo lying within me was Rehydrated as a little water was poured in and upon me.
“Ha, Ha, Ha, Ho, Ho, Ho”........ I got swollen, feeling plump and my coat was also now softened.
Soon, I underwent the process of Imbibition
And the moistened Testa found within Me was ruptured,
“Oh, Wow !” ......... I made a shout “Here is My Primary Root.”
The soil where I was laid, was so full of Oxygen both inside and out
That I made a little and persevere progress every moment every day.
It made my respire and feel energized by converting the nutrients existing already in that soil.
I started storing the food within self now
And could now feel a little more besides.
As I was kept in a temperature and the sunlight moderate, fed with proper water and little manure schedule wise,
Weeds cleaned out, grazers shooed away and taken care of from time to time,
All this made me stronger and healthy day by day
Bringing me out of my state of being dehydrated, inactive and dormant and hence,
To be able to store more foods like Fats, Carbs and Proteins.
“Bingo, At last my first Young Shoot, the Plumule was there.”
After days, weeks or months of being in darkness,
It bursted open to through my seed coat in search of The Sunlight, so bright.
And when the seed coat fell off, The Primary Root branched into numerous roots within the soil
While The Plumule grew upwards towards the light
And “I finally got my eyes, the inky winky tiny leaves
To see the world outside so bright, beautiful, wide and magnified.”
All this while......when I was growing, growing and growing.....
I didn’t forget My Little Devil
Who brought me out of my state
Of being dehydrated, inactive and dormant.
I kept growing so that one day I could bear sweet fruits and colourful flowers
To say a “Thank You, My Little Devilish Star”
And to serve the purpose of my life......
To cheer the World with my greenery,
To give home to the birds,
To feed the hungry souls,
To let swings tied with my mighty branches fly high upto the sky.
To let grand parents narrate stories
And some day, to let A small future baby fall off from Me.....
A Little Soul, A kind life, Hey......A Little Seed like Me....... Just like that....... Like Me.......”
