THE SPLENDID BLACK

Colour, Colour, O Black colour......

Where have You come from?

Was it from the deep, deeper, or deepest part of the Earth?

Or from the farthest point in the vastness of the space that is beyond my comprehension?

As my teacher discovered her bright pupil, me, Oh! so stunned,

She explained me, "Black originates from Your colour palette,

When friendship happens among Yellow, Blue and Red."

So intrigued to discover Your occurrence,

My mind shot another query at the same instance -

“Why are they connecting You, Black, my dear, 

so colourful and elegant, to hopelessness and gloom?”

True is Your strength

That You cannot be easily overcome by another shade in the palette,

But that strength comes from Red - Your basic colour, which embodies strong feelings

Of warmth, passion, love, and a desire to radiate.

You are so authoritative, hey! damn You,

Of course, to the point where You can make other colours appear to be fading away

When they misbehave around You.

But the Blue will inevitably project that dominance from within You.

With all this strength and authority,

You are truly optimistic about You and hence so confident

To the extent that no unmatched hue can 

destroy the whole independent appearance of You.

It does dampen Your view a little 

But this way it will hardly have any deep impact on You

And instead dip its own brilliance and brightness.

Has anyone ever wondered – Why So?

Just because picking friends to have fun carefully

While still enjoying self’s company – 

Is what is being symbolised by the aura of Yellow in You.

Oh so magnificent,

Oh so lovely colour,

Oh The Black......

I feel terrible when I think

that you - a colour so sombre is, by them, chained

to feelings like anger, aggression, fear, sadness and depression since ages.

As whenever I see You, 

I find You ever enchanting, attractive, elegant and still so sophisticated.

Let me tell You

And let me tell all,

That they might not have come across 

The peace that enchants

When White meets You.

They must not have witnessed

The grace which becomes alive

When The Golden dances with joy

Having its background as You.

And also they have missed

That vibrant myriad of various hues

Which scintillates when skilfully spread

in right combination across You.

Oh blissful Black, so bright and radiant,

As I am just a little scholar right now

And does not want to entangle into artistic complexities as for now,

So I want to convey one simple message,

That although nowadays smart and green....

But the classrooms of the already gone ages and days,

Which were always and only coloured in deep, dark Black,

Have proved to impart oceans of knowledge

To novices like me, since then.”
