PRNCE LUCIFER AND PRINCESS RUTH
PRNCE LUCIFER AND PRINCESS RUTH
PRINCE LUCIFER AND PRINCESS RUTH
Long ago and far away in the land of Sparta, there lived a Prince named Lucifer. Prince Lucifer had two heads, one was called “The Morn’ Star” and the other, “The Midnight Horn.” Prince Lucifer looked very handsome indeed ‘cause Morn’ Star had big blue eyes, as blue as the morning sky and Midnight Horn had big black eyes, as black as coal.
Now Prince Lucifer was deeply in love with the beautiful Ruth and tried every trick in the game of love to woo her over. Morn’ Star would smile, whilst Midnight Horn would grimace. Ruth loved to watch his two faces, for she had never seen a Prince with two heads. She spent endless hours in his delightful companionship.
Prince Lucifer had three caps’ n bells, Happenstance, Falsity and Greenhorn and his Wizard Beezelbub. All of them would entertain Princess Ruth by reciting poetry…….
Happenstance: “I am Cap’n Bell Happenstance,
I stand for happiness and gaiety,
As I sit upon Prince Lucifer’s,
Lap of Luxury,
I bask afloat,
The clouds of Jollity-Jollity”
Falsity: “I am Cap’n Bell Falsity,
Prince Lucifer’s Tin-Horn,
I quibble and sing in a falsetto,
Songs of Fallacy and error,
With my shimmering tinsel cloak,
And my false head crooked on”
Greenhorn: “I am Cap’n Bell Greenhorn,
Prince Lucifer’s cat’s paw,
And oft’ made a laughing stock of,
‘Cause I am called a moon calf,
And a nincompoop,
For I am far too young and gullible,
With butter fingers
As raw as a young sapling,
And so tender hearted as a young tendril”
Wizard Beezelbub: “Red and Blue Beetlejuice,
I am Wizard Beezelbub,
I tangle and entangle a web,
With my black magic,
So that Prince Lucifer,
May reign over Sparta,
Forever and Forever
Gerry Mander, Gerry Mander”
Prince Lucifer would oft’ sing this song to Princess Ruth:
“Furore, Furore,
I am the two-headed
Prince Lucifer of Sparta,
And my twin heads
Morn’ Star and the Midnight Horn,
With Morn’ Star I serenade my lady love,
Playing love songs with my mandolin and silver plectrum,
And Midnight Horn,
Shall perish anyone with my mace,
Who as much steals a glance
At my lady fair
Furore, Furore”
The poor Spartans greatly feared the wrath of Midnight Horn. Ruth could bear no more of his evil ways. So she secretly approached Wizard Chicanery to change Prince Lucifer for the better. Wizard Chicanery looked into his black and white book and sang to her this magical verse:
“Bluff, Juggle, Jumble,
Truth loving lady fair Ruth,
The only way to cast off,
The monster in Prince Lucifer,
Is to cut off his twin head
The Midnight Horn,
Bluff, Juggle, Jumble”
Ruth could not do such a thing for she loved Prince Lucifer, the Morn’ star, his twin, far too deeply and so she decided to leave Prince Lucifer for good. However, when stone-hearted Prince Lucifer’s twin Midnight Horn, learnt of her decision, he was more furious than ever and threatened that if she ever tried to escape he would lock her up in a high fortress, for he feared that he would lose her love.
Nonetheless, beautiful Princess Ruth plucked up her courage and sang to him this
Song:
“OH! Cowardly Heart!
Nay I shall not love you anymore,
You are but only a mirage,
Oh! How treacherous can love be,
I’d rather flee,
Then bask in its vain glory,
Which is all but a shame and a farce!
OH! Cowardly heart!
I stumble many a time,
Upon the flattery and cajolery,
Which you constantly shower upon me,
OH! Ruthless heart,
Nevertheless, I believe in moonshine,
And fairytale romance,
‘Till the rainbow’s end”
This enraged Prince Lucifer and he ordered his Wizard Beezelbub to lock dear Princess Ruth in a tall fortress.
Prince Lucifer’s Caps’n Bells Happenstance, Falsity and Greenhorn and his Wizard Beezelbub however, dearly loved sweet Princess Ruth and could do her no harm.
So one day they plotted and schemed to run away along with Princess Ruth far from the evil clutches of Prince Lucifer. They tiptoed into the dark fortress and made Princess Ruth wear a tippet. Then sang her this song in a soft whisper,
“We Caps’n Bells Happenstance, Falsity, Greenhorn
And Wizard Beezelbub,
Love you dearly,
And could rob you the moon
And the stars
So Caps’n Bells Happenstance
Shall with his cap of Happiness and gaiety,
Ride you on his horse Good Luck
Whilst Caps’n Bells Falsity
Shall sing in a falsetto,
And then take you away
In a catamaran,
From evil Prince Lucifer’s nightmare,
To Fortunate Isles
Where Caps’n Bells Green Horn,
Shall with his naivity and funny foolish rhymes,
Make you smile always,
And you shall never ever shed a tear.
Wizard Beezelbub,
With his magic beetles
Shall light his midnight lamp,
And lead the way for us five,
To make good our escape and live free,
Till the rainbow’s end,
Shall it be
Jollity Jollity”
Then the five of them, all made good their escape to the Island Fortunate.
Though Princess Ruth missed Prince Lucifer’s twin The Morn’ Star, she knew that this could be the only way she could save the Spartan’s.
Prince Lucifer, now was left all alone with his twins, the Morn’ Star and the Midnight Horn. His heart lay bleeding without his lady love, Ruth that he could live no longer. In the end, the Angel of Death took Prince Lucifer away and the Spartan’s lived happily ever after.
A fairy tale skit, of the beautiful Princess Ruth, the charming Morn’ Star and the vicious Midnight Horn…… the two twins of Prince Lucifer. It is a tragic comedy story of love and its fallacies. Hope you do enjoy it my dear folks!
