Oh Wonder, Thy Name Is Woman

On this Women’s Day

What I’m writing isn’t really a story or a poem

It’s a bit of both

Whatever it is, it’s a humble and honest ode

 

I've 3 daughters

 

My old mum, who has now become my youngest daughter

She’s the most difficult to handle

But never ceases to love me come what may

 

My biological teenage daughter

She inadvertently makes me feel I'm the worst parent

Deep within I know she feels I'm the best dad.

 

My adopted dog daughter

She never lets go of an opportunity

To make me feel I'm the best

She tricks me to feel I’m a fountain of kindness

 

Then there are a plenty more...

 

All my wonderful sisters

For their unstinted understanding and love

And for making me a good brother

 

My lady home helpers

They make me feel I'm the best son, the best chef, the best employer

They look after my house and my parents as if it's their own

 

My home designer, a young girl at that time,

Created a haven for me that’s an elegant heaven

 

My lady tax consultant

Who made me feel proud of being a responsible citizen

 

The lady doctor who's the protector of my family's health

She's been more of a friend than a physician

 

The cheerful lady who's my dog daughter's walking mate

She also becomes my daughter by that deed

 

My lady lawyer who waded me through my most difficult times

Refuses to charge fees from me for her top notch work

Instead takes my useless counsel in other matters as compensation

 

My lady counsellor who ensured I started loving myself

She succeeded in deluding me to feel I'm special

 

All my wonderful women colleagues

They made me a good man to work with

 

My many lady friends who didn't judge me

Rather they made me look like an angel

All I am is an ordinary creature

 

These wonder women

Never took any credit for the peace and sanity in my life

Have made my worldly journey so much more meaningful

 

All these women have spoiled me into thinking I'm a great guy

I know I don't deserve all this adulation, but

I'm truly grateful for all their love and indulgence

I am truly blessed

 

Happy Women's Day to all of them!

In my life and all out there

They don't realise how wonderful they are!

May their tribe multiply and much more
