Him
Him
I would not really say he was the most courageous of the lot, but
I would always assert that he wasn't the craven person
Who would back away in the face of a calamity.
He wasn't the one to retreat in the wake of a storm.
He would not take on those dark tempests like a leader, for
He simply did not view himself as one.
He was content being a follower, but was sensible enough,
To always be with the righteous.
It wasn't in his nature to be the center of attention or to sparkle amidst
The lustre of all that glittered. He preferred being a wallflower, but
The one with the most clear and sorted conscience.
It wasn't that he wasn't prone to making mistakes
Or what seemed morally wrong, yet, he had it in himself
To redeem himself and to steer clear of what had once
Went wrong. And perhaps, that's why
He seemed really distinguished from the lot.
A fresh breath of all that was good and not exceptional,
Of all that was honest, yet realistic and not fictional,
Of all that was beautiful and not ethereally gorgeous.
He was him and I would say, really content the way he was.
