Naresh was a bright and hardworking student at one of the prestigious colleges in Delhi. He was pursuing BsC in Economics and was always eager to learn from his professors. His favourite professor was Ms. Sinha, who taught him Indian economy and policies. Naresh admired Ms. Sinha's knowledge and enthusiasm, and often stayed after class to ask her questions or discuss her projects, and to know about her academic journey; how different was studying under SSC from other boards.

However, not everyone was happy with Naresh's academic success. A group of students, who were jealous of Naresh's reputation, decided to ruin his image and career. They plotted to frame him in various scandals and embarrassments, hoping to make him lose his respect. They often met at a local bar, where they smoked and drank and discussed their plans.

One day, they executed their first plan. They invited Naresh to join them for a drink, pretending to be friendly and interested in his work. Naresh, who was naive, agreed to go with them. He did not know that they were going to record his voice and keep the phones hidden in their pocket, and that they were going to make him say vulgar things about Ms. Sinha.

They started by asking him about his projects and his future goals. Naresh answered them politely aand enthusiastically, unaware of their secret motives. Then, they gradually changed the topic to Ms. Sinha, and began to praise her and her teaching style. Naresh agreed with them, and expressed his admiration for Ms. Sinha. Then, they asked him if he had a crush on Ms. Sinha. Naresh was shocked and confused by their questions, and tried to deny them. But they kept pressuring him, and making jokes and innuendos. They also spiked his drink with alcohol, making him more vulnerable. Naresh felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave, but they did not let him. They kept recording his voice, and edited it to make it sound like he was saying obscene and disrespectful things about Ms. Sinha.

The next day, they created a fake email account and sent the audio clip, with a photo of Naresh to Ms. Sinha and to every student studying in the college, along with a message that said: Dear Ms. Sinha, I am Naresh, your biggest lover. I have always admired you and wanted to be with you. Here is a sample of my love for you. Please listen to it and reply to me. I am waiting for your response. Yours lovingly, Naresh.

Ms. Sinha was horrified and disgusted when she received the email. She could not believe that Naresh, who she thought was a sincere and respectful student, would say such things about him. He felt betrayed and angry, and decided to take action. She forwarded the email to the director of the college, and requested a meeting with Naresh.

The director, who was also shocked by the email, summoned Naresh to his office.

The director, then called the IT team to delete the email from the server.

Naresh, who had no idea what was going on, went to the meeting, expecting to discuss his projects. He was surprised to see Ms. Sinha there, who looked at him with disappointment. The director played the audio clip for Naresh, and asked him to explain himself.

Naresh was stunned and speechless. He could not recognize his own voice, and he could not remember saying any of those things. He realized that he had been set up by the group of students, who had recorded and manipulated his voice. He tried to tell the truth to the director and Ms. Sinha, and pleaded for their trust and forgiveness. He said that he had never said anything bad about Ms. Sinha, and that he had always respected her and learned good things from her. He said that he was a victim of a conspiracy, and that he could prove his innocence.

But the director and Ms. Sinha did not believe him. They said that the evidence was clear and undeniable, and that Naresh had committed a serious offense. They said that Naresh had violated the code of conduct and ethics of the college, and that he had insulted and harassed a faculty member. They said that Naresh had to face the consequences of his actions, and that they would take disciplinary action against him. They said that Naresh had lost his reputation, and that he had to leave the college immediately.

Naresh was devastated and heartbroken. He could not believe that his life and career were ruined by a false accusation. He could not believe that the people he trusted and admired did not trust and support him. He felt helpless and hopeless, and did not know what to do. He left the office, crying and sobbing, while the group of students, who were watching from a distance, laughed and celebrated their victory.

The group of students were at the bar, celebrating their successful plan. They had sent an audio clip of Ms. Sinha's voice, manipulated by an AI tool, to Naresh. The audio clip said that Ms. Sinha regretted admitting Naresh to the college, and that he was a problem and a nuisance. They hoped that this would break Naresh's spirit and make him lose his confidence and motivation.

'Did you see his face when he heard the audio clip?' one of them said, laughing.

'Yeah, man… He was crying like a fucking immature baby. He must have felt so betrayed and hurt by his favourite professor. I want to see him getting more tortured by his professor, it's very fun to see him be sad, he's such a teacher's pet…'; another one said, mocking.

'Bhai such kahun toh Naresh ek number ka jootiya hai (Brother, if I tell you the truth, Naresh is a dumbass). He actually believed that Ms. Sinha cared for him. Actually, our professors are also a bunch of idiots too, especially Ms. Sinha, she is too naive, she now calls me for any help she requires; our dumb professors believed us and gave us the chance of volunteering in events instead of that bugger; a third one said, lying.'

They continued to make fun of Naresh and Ms. Sinha, and praised themselves for their cleverness and cunning. They did not notice that a waiter, who was serving them drinks, was listening to their conversation. The waiter was a friend of Naresh, and he was shocked and angry by what he heard. He decided to record their conversation and send it to Naresh, hoping that it would help him prove his innocence and expose their crimes.

The next day, as Naresh entered the college, he was met with mocking laughter and few fingers pointing in his direction due to the audio clip.

Students gossiping: It's the same photo which was attached in the email. I had downloaded it. Yeah, he's the one… He's that idiot!

Naresh tried to ignore them and thought, it's now the end for him; he has no other option but to face the humiliation. Despite the challenging situation, he continued to the 4th floor A student then, provoked others to beat up Naresh for disrespecting a professor.

Student: Maaro saale ko!

Until then, Naresh's mentor stepped in and stopped them.

The mentor told Naresh to tell them the truth, but he chose to remain silent. He told the mentor: 'Then they will think we have turned ourselves wrong and are supporting the wrongdoing. Let them curse me.'

In an act of self-sacrifice, he decided to bear the burden of false accusations to prevent others from perceiving them as wrongdoers in future. One of the students then said, if it weren't for the professor, I would have just broken your teeth, make sure you don't repeat this again; otherwise, it won't be good for you, the mentor instructed Naresh to go to his class, despite the threat; but he decided to meet with Ms. Sinha before heading there.

Naresh reached Ms. Sinha's cabin, hoping to talk to her and clear the misunderstanding. He wanted to tell her that the audio clip was fake, and that he still respected her. He wanted to ask her for her guidance and support. He knocked on the door, and heard Ms. Sinha's voice.

'Come in, Naresh. I was expecting you', Ms. Sinha said.

Naresh entered the cabin, and saw Ms. Sinha sitting at her desk, looking serious and stern. Naresh felt nervous and scared, and wondered what Ms. Sinha was going to say to him.

'Ma'am, I want to explain to you about the audio clip. It was not real; it was made by those fools who are trying to ruin my life. They used some AI tool to manipulate your voice and make it sound like you said those things. I never believed them, Ma'am. I have always trusted you and learned from you. Please don't be angry with me, Ma'am. Please forgive me,' Naresh said, pleading.

Ms. Sinha looked at Naresh, and sighed. She felt sorry for him, and realized that she had been too harsh and hasty with him. She knew that Naresh was telling the truth, and that he had been a victim of a conspiracy. She also knew that she had been unfair and unjust to him, and that she had ignored and neglected him. She decided to tell him the truth, and to apologize to him.

'Naresh, I know that the audio clip was fake. I checked the technical details, and I found out that it was edited and altered. I also received a call from the director, who told me that he had received an anonymous email with a recording of those students discussing their plans. He said that he was sorry for not believing you, and that he wanted to take strict action against them. He said that he had reported them to the cybercrime department. He wanted to meet you and me, and to reward you for your courage and honesty', Ms. Sinha said.

Naresh was surprised and relieved by what he heard. He felt a wave of joy and gratitude, and thanked Ms. Sinha and the director for their trust and support. He also thanked the waiter, who had sent him the recording of the students' conversation, and who had helped him expose their crimes.

Ma'am, thank you so much for telling me this. I am so happy and thankful that you and the director believed me and helped me. Ma'am, I am very sorry for any trouble or inconvenience I caused you. I hope we can still work together and learn from each other. You are my favourite professor, Ma'am. You are my inspiration,' Naresh said, sincerely.

Ms. Sinha smiled, and hugged Naresh. She felt proud and happy for him, and admired his resilience and perseverance. She also felt ashamed for her behaviour, and wanted to make up for it.

'Naresh, you don't have to apologize to me. You have almost gone through the same from what I have gone through. I was wrong to doubt you and to ignore you. I am not angry with you, Naresh. I am proud of you. You are a brilliant and hardworking student, and a good and honest person. You have faced a lot of challenges and difficulties, but you have overcome them with courage and dignity. You have taught me a lot, Naresh. You have taught me to be more trusting and supportive. Ms. Sinha said, warmly.

The next day, Maddy had hacked into Ms. Sinha's private Instagram account and sent her personal photos to the students studying in his class, by a temporary email ID. Maddy had also sent the photos to Ms. Sinha herself, hoping to make her feel ashamed and scared. They did not know that Ms. Sinha had evidence that Maddy had done it, and that she had called the cybercrime department. They also did not know that Naresh had seen them coming into the campus, and that he had taken Maddy to a classroom and locked the door and started hitting him.

Naresh punches Maddy on his face and says: Saale mann toh kar raha hai teri khaal udhed ke phek dun! (I feel like tearing you apart and then throwing you to the dogs) I never should have trusted you bastards. It's good that I had already blocked you on Instagram after the audio clip incident, otherwise I cannot even imagine the type of shit; the the… extent you could have gone to humiliate us!

Maddy spits on the floor and says: How the fuck would it matter even if you would have blocked me? I could still hack in your account.

Naresh gets more angry and gives him a uppercut…

Naresh: Tired of me beating you up? Let's take a 30 secs break… Until then, hear what I say-

You thought you were an intelligent guy, but in reality, you are just an inexperienced fool and currently being a massive cunt. You are fucking intolerable! I feel like saying a lot more to you, but right now, let's go outside.

Maddy felt very angry and wanted to curse him, but he wasn't able to; until then, Naresh opens the classroom's door. Naresh drags him out of the classroom he punches him in the face twice, but no one dared to stop him. He then slaps Maddy in front of everybody, shouts, and says, 'If someone is not comfortable with you, don't invade their privacy.'

Naresh was furious and disgusted by what they had done.

In the classroom, one student jokes about Naresh committing suicide and shows Ms. Sinha a fake news article on his phone. Ms. Sinha suddenly turns blank, as if she will faint. Until then, the student says, 'Ma'am, I was joking. I was trying to lighten up the mood'.

Ms. Kapoor: What type of joke was that, Abhishek? Huh? of your classmate committing suicide. Have you lost your mind? Doesn't your brain work anymore? You, anyway, have been failing in my class, and marks for your class behavior will turn out low as well. Idiot!

Ms. Kapoor then says to Ms. Sinha, I need to go now. Take care of yourself.

Ms. Sinha: Thank you for being here with me.

Ms. Kapoor then waves bye at Ms. Sinha and leaves the class.

After a while, Naresh, arrived in the classroom where Ms. Sinha was standing near the podium and other students were feeling pity for her. Naresh gave Ms. Sinha a bottle of water to drink and made her sit on the bench. He told her that he was sorry for what had happened, and that he was there for her. He had also told her that he had confronted Maddy and, that he had beaten the shit out of him. He had said that he hoped that they would get punished and expelled, and that they would never bother them again. Ms. Sinha had thanked Naresh for his support and courage, and had told him that he was a good and brave student, and that she was proud of him. She had also told him that she had called the cybercrime department, and that they were on their way. She had said that she hoped that they would catch them and arrest them.

The cybercrime department had arrived at the college, along with the police constables. They had gone to the director's cabin, where Ms. Sinha and Naresh were waiting for them. They had also found Maddy, who was lying on the floor, bruised and bleeding; with his group standing beside him.

Naresh said to one of his group members: Tum toh apne aap ko bada smart samajhti thi, hum jab kuch bolne ki koshish kia karte the toh apna zabaan kainchi ke jaise chalane lag jaati thi.( You thought that you are very smart, whenever I tried to speak something in class, you always used to interrupt and didn't let me speak…)

Naresh then went to one of his professors: Ma'am,Inpe bhi bharosa tha na aapko, hein? Kahiye… (Ma'am, you had trusted this girl, right?)

One of the group members named Akshay, says: Haan haan tumhari toh jalti hai na humse… (You are jealous of us, right?)

Naresh: Abey, hamari kaahe jalegi tum logon se? Yeh jo abhi kaand kie ho, usse humko jalan hogi kya? Bhak budbak!( Why the heck would I be jealous of you guys? Especially after the scandal you guys have done and got yourself exposed…Your talkings make no sense!

Arey, kya bigada tha maine tum log ka? Bolo bhai… apni aukaat toh dikha diye tum log. (What harm did I cause y'all? Come on tell me idiots… Your true colors just got revealed in front of everybody!)

Officer, le jao inko… (Officer, take them away!)

Police constables had arrested them and taken them to the police station, where they had interrogated them and charged them with cyberbullying, and harassment. They had also confiscated their laptops and phones, and found out that they had been involved in other cybercrimes, such as creating fake audio clips and sending them to Naresh and Ms. Sinha. They had realized that they were the masterminds behind the conspiracy that had tried to ruin Naresh and Ms. Sinha's lives.

The director and the professor had also arrived at the police station, where they had met with the cybercrime department and the police constables. They had apologized to Naresh and Ms. Sinha for not believing them, and for trusting Maddy and his group.

Naresh interrupted and said: No offense, but if you would have taken me seriously at that time, none of this would have happened… Police ko bhi nahi aana padta aur college ki reputation bhi bach jaati (Even the police wouldn't have come, and the reputation of the college would also not have been damaged.)

The director and the professors agreed with Naresh.

They said that they had been fooled by their academic performance and their fake niceness, and that they had not seen their true colours. They had said that they regretted giving them opportunities and chances, and that they should have listened to Naresh and Ms. Sinha. They had also said that they were glad that they had exposed them and caught them, and that they were proud of them. They had also said that they had suspended them from the college, and that they would not let them come back.

Naresh and Ms. Sinha had thanked the director and the professor for their apology and their support, and had said that they understood their mistake and forgave them. They had also thanked the cybercrime department and the police constables for their help and their justice. They had also said that they were happy that they had solved the case and ended the conspiracy.

Some parents objectified to Naresh's studying at the college; they accused him of hooliganism and said it was harmful for their children to study there. However, the PRO explained the situation to the parents and calmed them down.

A few days later, a cybercrime seminar is conducted by Ms. Sinha, in which she simply explains how cybercrime takes place. How to prevent it and what to do if you are a victim of cybercrime. She also explains with a little humor that while you create an account on any website, don't click agree on terms and conditions without reading them, as many people never read the terms and conditions. The session was followed by a small talk by Naresh, who told the story to everyone. Everyone clapped at the end of the seminar. Some students felt so emotional that they came and hugged Naresh on the stage. Students who had cursed and were provoked to beat up Naresh were shocked after they listened to what he said, and they apologized to him.

Next week, an exam got conducted on cybercrime, and one of the students said to Ms. Sinha, 'I am feeling nervous'. Ms. Sinha says, 'You are going to do great; just remember the preparation we put into it. She then smiles and says, 'All the best'.

The teachers later have a talk in the canteen about students not attending their lectures.

Ms. Kapoor says, 'It feels like a miracle when they attend the lectures and when I teach them. I feel like the collective IQ of my whole class doesn't even add up to double digits'.

Mr. Kumar says, 'Hey, don't say that about kids. Just try changing your lesson plans'.

Ms. Devi: They start having doubts in the middle of the night; I can't even sleep properly because of them. I had given an assignment to the kids, and they started demanding access for the folder at 11 pm.

Ms. Sinha: However, there's this one kid who seems really sincere to me. He keeps asking for assignments but is quite shy.

One student named Rakesh then enters the canteen, takes a cup of tea, and sits down alone at one table.

Ms. Sinha: Yeah, he is the one. In class, he also sits alone. Shall we call him up?

Ms. Kapoor: No, let him be alone for some time.

Mr. Kumar: Oh, come on. He will feel nice.

Mr. Kumar then calls up Rakesh and tells him to sit with them.

Rakesh hesitates at first and gets a little nervous, but he has a habit of not saying no to anyone. So, he goes and sits with them.

Mr. Kumar: What's up, buddy? I hope those fools aren't troubling you anymore.

Ms. Kapoor(interrupts): Kaunse students? Kya baat ho rahi hai(What are you talking about…)

Mr. Kumar: Arey, aapko pata nahi… Isse, kuch students pareshaan kar rahe the toh isne phir hume poori Ramayan batayi (You don't know? Some students were troubling Rakesh, and then he decided to inform us about the whole incident…)

Ms. Kapoor: Oh, God. Rakesh, I hope you are feeling good now.

Rakesh: Yes, Ma'am; all good. Mr. Kumar, those fools did try to poke me last week but as you said to ignore them, so just doing that… Anyways, how are you?

Mr. Kumar: I am good. Thank you for asking.

Ms. Sinha taps his shoulder and tries to console him: Relax, Rakesh. We are not going to take some of your tests over here. We ourselves are trying to get cool. I mean leaving up all the stressful things and trying to calm down.

Rakesh: Yes, yes. Sorry, I was just feeling a little nervous.

Ms. Kapoor: Don't feel nervous… Feel free to ask any doubts you have after the lecture.

Rakesh: It's actually that… I don't like students passing on judgements on me, if I say something; they would start being judgy. That's why I prefer to ask my doubts one-on-one.

Ms. Kapoor: Ohh… That's why! Don't think too much about it, just ask your doubts at the moment, Rakesh. Don't give a damn about what would students think of you… And is this the reason why your class participation is also low?

Rakesh: Yes, Ma'am. Thank you for understanding.

Mr. Kumar: How are your studies going on, Rakesh? I hope we teach well.

Rakesh: You all teach great; don't worry.

Ms. Sinha: I hope so... Recently, a student anonymously complained that I was ignoring him in his class and not clearing his doubts. He also complained that I don't talk with him with the joy I used to talk though I still talk with the same joy with other students.

Rakesh: Hmm...

Ms. Sinha: I don't do it purposely, but it happens sometimes. That doesn't mean I don't care for my students. I mean, whenever it's my lecture, I ensure in my class that every student can achieve as much as they possibly can.

Rakesh: Don't feel yourself as a burden, ma'am. You are doing the best you can. You professors don't teach us students for the glory or the money; you do it because you care about us students.

Mr. Kumar: Wow, that's a very deep statement.

Ms. Sinha says with a little laugh: Yeah, a great addition to what I said. By the way, Rakesh, break is going to be over in a while. Go back to your class and be ready for the lectures. At least I can teach somebody.

Rakesh says, thank you, greets them with a bye, and exits the canteen.
