Sifting through the pile, a particular piece caught my eye. It was done and dusted and neatly stacked, it was memorabilia of my father who had treasured it and kept it close to his heart.  He had won several accolades but this one stood out carefully embedded in an artistically designed case. Engraved on it was his name. He fondly. cuddled it in his sleep and would not let go of it.  Many a time we wanted to sneak into it in his sleep, but his grip was firmer and wouldn’t part with it. Delving in the past with his better half not by his side, lonely stood he wobbly.

They cherished every moment the trials and tribulations. Nothing could keep them apart except destiny. The man once stoic now. feeble grave as he would visit the grave, as long as his legs could carry him would sit beside it and lay a wreath on it. Both inseparables would cherish the magical moments and led life to the lees. Both being champion of arts pursued it to the hilt. Royalties were bestowed upon them. Unfazed by hardships they encountered in the course of their pursuit their creations were awe inspiring. It was an Elizabethan Age where patrons were honored. This heralded. a new outlook. However, challenging it was they stood out. On one such occasion the Queen commissioned them to portray her in glass encrusted with gems. Complete they did amidst competition. A huge sum was attached to it. Among the displays theirs. stood out. The Queen summoned them and handed the casket in which was embedded a golden filigree embedded with diamonds and gems. They vowed that they would not part with it until death do them apart. They kept it under wraps. The day dawned when he had to be carried to his wife’s grave The case fell swept by the wind. He was heartbroken and lay near the grave with tears rolling down his cheek. A shovel was brought and deep down lay the casket. which was close to his heart.  The day arrived when he revealed what was in there. With mom on one side and the filigree on the other.
